Wine Review: Jeff Gordon’s Chardonnay made a nice showing again this year as it finished in third place in this years second blind Chardonnay tasting. This light yellow wine opens with an attractive light cantaloupe bouquet. On the palate, this full bodied wine is very balanced, smooth, creamy, and elegant. The flavor profile is a charming light pineapple and lime with a touch of vanilla and oak. The finish is dry and slightly prolonged. This very food friendly and pleasant Chard would pair perfectly with wiener schnitzel. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is our third release of this popular varietal. The grapes from this selection come from a 35-year-old Wente Clone vineyard on the Sonoma County side of Carneros, just south of the town of Sonoma. The wine is bright and golden straw in color. Aromas of tropical fruit mingle with hints of melon, apple and vanilla. With a well-balanced palate and moderate oak, flavors of passion fruit, pineapple and mandarin orange show through.
