Wine Review: This light yellow colored Chard was the winner of our first blind tasting this month. It opens with a very unique bouquet of spearmint with hints of butter and light oak. On the palate this medium to full bodied wine is ultra smooth, elegant, with very integrated acidity, while displaying light citrus flavors with hints of tangerine and light oak. The finish is pleasantly dry and that spearmint note lingers in the aftertaste making it quite refreshing. The panel found this wine to be quite food friendly and versatile and would pair it with many chicken dishes. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: This Grand Barrel Selection of our 2006 Chardonnay vintage represents our best efforts both in the vineyard and winery. Harvested from a single Estate vineyard block of Wente clone Chardonnay, the juice was fermented in 100% new Louis Latour barrels that are among the finest in the world. We chose these barrels for our ultra-premium level since they enhance, rather than overwhelm, the tropical fruit flavors typical of Chardonnay from our Estate Vineyards in Paso Robles. Bright aromas of pineapple, apricot, and pear greet the nose with integrated notes of toasty oak. Wonderful flavors of green apple and lemon peel lead to a balanced finish with subtle hints of roasted pine nuts.
