Wine Review: This bright yellow colored wine finished third in our recent blind tasting of Oregon Chardonnays. This wine opens with a very pronounced ripe cantaloupe like bouquet with hints of vanilla and grapefruit. On the palate, this intriguing wine is medium bodied, balanced, creamy, with ripe mango and pear flavors that are influenced by oak notes. He finish is dry and subtle. The panel felt this wine would pair nicely with chicken ravioli with a smoky cream sauce or saltimbocca. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This 2006 bottling shows lemons, figs and apricots – as well as spice and hazelnuts – on the nose, with the French oak almost subliminal in the background. On the palate, the wine shows artful layers of figs, Asian pears, apricots, apples, nutmeats and minerals. It almost seems lush, but is beautifully balanced by the acidity one gets in our Northern wine region, and features a long polished finish. In the end, it pulls off the difficult feat of feeling both rich and lively, broad yet focused. It will pair wonderfully with poached salmon, lobster, smoked meats, cheeses, and spicy dishes.
