Wine Review: This burgundy colored wine opens with an Old World styled bouquet with oak, barnyard, and light red cherry notes. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is round, juicy, and has mellow cherry cola like flavors with some strong oak influence. The finish is very dry and the tannins linger for quite a while. This wine would definitely appeal to serious Old World wine fans. The panel felt this wine would pair nicely with veal medallions in a thick brown mushroom sauce or Osso Buco. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Colognole is pronounced "Koh-loan-yo-lay." It is a dry red with elegant style (versus rustic) with a ruby red color tending towards darker red/black at the core. Typical Sangiovese cherry fruit onthe nose with darker fruit, light spice and earth on the palate. Extremely smooth and inviting with, velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and flawlessly married to just enough oak. Even though the 2003 has a hip new label, it is still the same great Chianti.
