Wine Review: This "Estate Grown" dessert wine from Fritz was a hit with our panel. This very dark purple wine opens with a relatively shy bouquet. On the palate, this wine is well balanced, smooth, viscous, nicely sweet, with pleasant berry flavors. The finish is dry and has some length to it as well. One panelist felt this would be a nice sipping wine for after dinner. They also felt it would also pair nicely with dark chocolate covered strawberries.
Winemaker Notes: VISUAL: Dorothy’s Ruby Red NOSE: Spices and red fruit PALATE: Nicely balanced between sweetness and alcohol. With this little section of the vineyard on a hill by the redwood grove we wait as long as possible to harvest and then ferment in little bins until the fruit flies are no longer bearable and then voila we have late harvest Zinfandel. - CHRISTINA PALLMANN
