Wine Review: For the second year in a row this Cabernet from Merriam has shown very nicely. This wine finished 2nd in our recent blind tasting of Cabernet Sauvignon wines. This very dark purple wine opens with a pleasant spicy black licorice like bouquet with hints of menthol. On the palate, this full bodied wine is round, has some acidity, and displays sweet black cherry like flavors. The finish is very very dry, has some fine tannins, and lingers for quite some time. This wine would pair nicely with a porterhouse steak. This wine will be released in February 2008 so this review is a sneak peak at very good things to come from this wine. Since this wine could spend a little time in the cellar the release time should be perfect. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Block 21 is a single vineyard designation from Dry Creek Valley. We produce this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Passalaqua Vineyard which is about 10 acres. Merriam Vineyards has a special section called "Block 21" which we have farmed specifically for us, we reduce crop load and restrict watering on this site to insure maximum quality.
