Wine Review: This small winery produces some very outstanding wines and this wine stood out and finished 3rd in our recent blind tasting of Cabernet’s. This very dark purple wine has a very faint spicy blackberry bouquet with hints of cedar and chocolate. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is well balanced, has some complexity, has good acidity, and displays tasty blackberry like flavors. The finish is dry, a bit tannic, and lingers for quite some time. This wine was built for steak or stew. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our 2003 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon shows all of these characteristics: with plenty of bright blackberry and raspberry fruit and lovely spiciness on the nose. The smooth tannins and medium body give the wine richness and structure. On the palate, flavors of blackberry, black pepper and wild mushrooms add to the wine's complexity and finesse.
