Wine Review: Jeff Gordon’s wine raced over the finish wine in fifth place at our most recent blind Merlot tasting. This wine opens with a mild berry bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is slightly acidic, round, and not overly complex. Two of the Tasters had this wine match well with pork tenderloin with a rosemary reduction sauce. The finish is slightly tannic, very very dry, but subtle. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The robust red color clings to the glass, and the first impression of the nose gives a clue to the wine’s mountain foothills heritage. Big in tannin and extraction, the wine gives up black currant, plum and toasted oak flavors that fight to escape the omnipresent spine of tannins that leave no question of this being a powerfully made wine that will be rewarded by patience in cellaring. It’s enjoyable now by lovers of big, youthful, raw and unapologetic wines -- but with the anatomy to last for the long term. This is a big Merlot!
