Wine Review: This wine from down under was a real winner at the Washington DC Wine Expo last weekend. This elegant wine from the Margaret River region is dark purple in color and very earthy on the nose. In a blind tasting, the bouquet of this wine could be mistaken for European. On the palate, the wine is smooth and round. The wine is nicely balanced and would match well with many foods. The finish is nicely dry and a bit prolonged. Enjoy this wine. – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Typical intensity of colour. This wine has fantastic cool climate menthol, pine needles and mint. An earthiness characteristic of this vineyard provides a pungent, savoury nose. The palate builds with menthol, savoury plums and spice. It has a well disguised weight with very high quality tannins from the tiny berries. The length is complex with savoury earthy characters lingering. With a structure like this, it is a wine that will age steadily over the next 10 years.
