Wine Review: This wine turned out to be the best bargain from our recent blind tasting of Cabernet Sauvignon. We ask the panel to write down what they would pay for each wine. The average was $18.11 for this wine. Not bad for a wine that cost $10 or less. As a result this Cab from Blackstone finished a very respectable 4th place with a score of 88.94. This dark red wine opens with a very pleasant menthol and floral like bouquet hints of spicy blackberry. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is round, creamy, has good acidity, and forward wild berry flavors. The finish is very dry, slightly tannic, and lingers for a while. The panel thought this wine would pair nicely with many foods like Memphis styled ribs, Italian red sauce based meals, or prime rib. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2005 Blackstone Cabernet Sauvignon is complex, with aromatic layers of black cherry, plum, caramel and hints of spice. The wine is full-flavored and rich, with supple tannins. Mouth-filling fruit flavors of black cherry and licorice create a lingering finish. This hearty Cabernet is the perfect accompaniment to grilled beef tenderloin with baked potatoes. It is also delicious with lamb chops and even Coq au Vin.
