Review: Luigi’s Italian Grill in Wayland, Massachusetts is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. We have visited Luigi’s many times before. Luigi’s offers a casual dining experience. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Limited reservations are available for parties of six or more Monday through Friday or up until 5:00pm on Saturdays. We were seated at a big round table in the corner which was perfect as there were quite a few of us.

For an appetizer we ordered the Bruschetta topped with tomato, red onion, melted mozzarella cheese, butter, and garlic on a baguette. It was awesome!

For dinner, I ordered the Melanzana (Eggplant) Parmigiana ($11.99). My eggplant parmigian was perfectly cooked. It was tender and delicious with lots of mozzarella cheese and plenty of pasta on the side for tomorrow’s lunch. It was excellent. The Eggplant Parmigiana is consistently great at Luigi’s.

Ken ordered the Veal Cutlet Parmigiana ($13.99). The veal was nicely breaded, very tender and served in a sweet tomato meat sauce. It had just the right amount of mozzarella cheese. The veal portion was good-sized. Ken enjoyed a sprinkling of fresh Parmesan cheese on top of his meal which added to the flavor.

To complement our meal, we ordered a bottle of the 2003 Castello Banfi "Cum Laude" (Tuscany, Italy) $42. This wine is a red blend consisting of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 25% Sangiovese, & 15% Syrah grapes. This Very Good, dark red wine opens with a mildly aromatic spicy black current like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is well balanced, smooth, has integrated acidity, and has impressive dusty black cherry flavors with hints of raspberry and a touch of oak. The finish is dry and displays very nice length. This wine is a really good food wine that paired perfectly with our veal and eggplant parmigiana.

We have always had very good meals at Luigi’s Italian Grill in Wayland and this evening was no exception. The service is usually very good as well. We will definitely be back to Luigi’s. If you haven’t had the pleasure, stop in soon for a delicious meal and a very good glass of wine. Luigi’s is handicap accessible with a ramp leading up to the front door. They also have a children’s menu and a take out menu.

Cheers!

Theresa and Ken
