Veraisons, the restaurant located at the Glenora Wine Cellars in the Finger Lakes wine country, is a fun stop on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. On our lunchtime visit to Veraisons we sat out on the beautiful deck overlooking Seneca Lake. The weather was threatening rain and even sprinkled on us but it was worth it to sit outside and enjoy the view (see picture above) and spacious deck.
The dining room is also very spacious and attractive with its cathedral ceilings. The dining room’s ambiance includes a stone, gas fireplace which would make it cozy in the winter. The big floor to ceiling windows overlook the lake and the vineyards. We loved eating out on the deck but we would have liked the dining room too.
For lunch Ken enjoyed the Cooper’s Chicken Sandwich ($9) with roasted red pepper and marinated grilled chicken breast smothered in havarti cheese. The sandwich was served on a toasted rosemary ciabatta with Dijon aioli and bib lettuce. Ken thought the roasted red peppers were delicious. The grilled chicken was juicy and perfectly done. The combination of roasted red pepper, Dijon aioli, and havarti cheese was spectacular.
I loved the Blue Crab Cake ($12). It was a golden fried, eight ounce, house made crab cake served on a toasted ciabatta with romaine chiffonade, battered onion straws and jalapeno tartar. I ordered the jalapeno tartar on the side. The crab cake was excellent without the jalapeno tartar. I would recommend only having it on the crab cake if you really like it hot and spicy. The crab cake itself was fresh, delicious melt-in-your mouth good! I took the crab cake out of my roll and ate it on its own – it was that good! The battered onion straws were crispy and slightly seasoned with pepper. They were great!
In addition to non alcoholic drinks, the Veraisons restaurant offers Glenora wine and suggests a pairing with each entrée.
For those looking to spend the night, there is the Inn at Glenora Wine Cellars.
We recommend the Veraisons restaurant for wine and food lovers alike. The food was very good as was the atmosphere.
