Wine Review: This slightly opaque and very dark purple Syrah from Zaca Mesa is a big boy. It opens with an attractive black raspberry bouquet with hints of anise and oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced and rich. The flavor profile is a very tasty black raspberry with hints of coffee, green beans, and anise. The finish is dry and its tingly tannins are moderate and build slightly. The panel described this wine as our winter warmer fireplace wine. We would serve it with sliced cheddar cheese by the fireplace or with veal marsala. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Syrah displays rich blackberry, cassis, espresso, mocha and our signature sage spice aromas and flavors. The silky finish lingers from the ripe tannins and smoky oak. This full-bodied wine should be enjoyed over the next ten years. A traditional pairing for this wine is a rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic. Grilled meats and bold cheese will also pair well.
