Wine Review: This midnight blue colored Malbec from Yorkville is made from organic grapes. It opens with boysenberry bouquet with faint hints of black cherry and cassis. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and savory. The flavor profile is a blackberry and cassis blend with notes of old oak and black plum. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and moderate tannins liner nicely. This nice organic Malbec would pair nicely with a tangy pulled pork sandwich with spicy cole slaw. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: During our blending trials we selected wine from clones #4, which has loose clusters of small berries and seems to contribute dusty cocoa flavors; while clone #9 with large clusters of big, round berries imparts the juicy blueberry flavors you like so much. It is this same #9 clone that we have chosen each year to produce our award winning Sweet Malbec.
