Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Winderlea opens with an inviting spiced plum bouquet with hints of cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, savory and juicy. The flavor profile is similar to the nose. It features spiced plum along with notes of minerality and clove. I also detected hints of cherry, pomegranate and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. This Pinot would pair well with Colorado lamb chop. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2016 Winderlea is a classic example of this expressive, lush vintage. The nose opens with bright, fresh notes of cherry, blackberry, tarragon, and dusting of cedar. Truffle and orange zest come through and transition to a firm and taut palate marked by a pop of hibiscus followed by barley and clove. The structure of this wine is balanced by the silky, creamy mouthfeel and long finish.
