Wine Review: This well made, dark red colored Merlot based wine opens with a mild black cherry bouquet with hints of bay leaf and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty plum with notes of oak and minerality. I also detected a hint of cola and strawberry. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are friendly and linger nicely. This wine is food friendly would pair well with wild boar bolognese served over fresh fettuccini. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2012 Westerly Red presents a precise, focused mix of dried berry, currant, and black cherry notes. This is a balanced and finely-layered wine, with a rich, yet firm, tannin structure that fans out across the palate. Will drink at its peak from 2014 to 2018.
