Wine Review: This pitch black colored Vintage Port from Warre's was a hit with our mini-tasting group. It opens with a mild prune bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, delicate and a little sweet. The flavor profile is a tart blackberry and black cherry blend with notes of minerality. We also detected a hint of pecan mixed in as well. The finish drifts away nicely and does a very good job of hiding the alcohol. The consensus was this port would pair nicely with a warm slice of pecan pie. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: 2016 will be remembered as a year that produced wines of remarkable structure, balance, elegance and grace. A profile which closely matches Warre's traditional Vintage Port style. The 2016 displays Warre's typical feminine charm, exuding floral aromas of violets and rockrose. It showcases supple, ripe black fruit flavors, underscored by fresh acidity, rendering superb balance and elegance on the palate. The finish is long and lingering with delicate tea-leaf notes.
