Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from Vinum is a very good value. It opens with a boysenberry bouquet with hints of smoky oak and leather. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with notes of black tea. I also detected hints of plum and black licorice. The finish is rather dry and its tannins stick around for quite some time. This Petite Sirah is a bit of a big boy. I would pair it with a messy rack of barbecue ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is our 15th year of producing Petite Sirah from Clarksburg and this is one of our best efforts to date. The color is inky purple with maximum teeth staining capacity and has ripe plummy and blueberry aroma backed with leather and earth notes. On the palate, this wine shines with ripe blue fruit such as blueberry, huckleberry and blackberry. These deep fruit notes sit on a silky tannin matrix of French oak with hints of vanilla, but finishes elegantly with cassis. A great big wine for grilled meats such as tenderloin and double cut pork chops.
