Wine Review: This Chardonnay from Monterey will complement any summer meal. It opens with a citrus bouquet that includes lemon, light cantaloupe and bananas with hints of toasted oak, butter and herbs. On the palate, this wine is smooth and buttery with light pineapple syrup along with hints of oak and citrus. The acidity is nicely balanced and the finish is slightly dry and citrusy. I would pair this Chard with basil and plum tomato bow tie pasta. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: This Chardonnay has a medium straw color with aromas of lemon custard, rich vanilla, cream and toasted oak notes. The palate is generous with its layered tropical notes of mango, papaya and pineapple which then transitions into silky rich custard and caramel toffee notes and does so in an integrated fashion. This wine is rich and layered, but relies on the natural acidity from the acidity of the Santa Lucia Highland fruit where daily temperatures are in the 60s and 70s. This wine pairs well with lobster or crab served with drawn butter and lemon.
