Wine Review: This pale yellow colored Chardonnay from Bourgogne opens with a very mild apple bouquet with a hint pear. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and delicate. The flavor profile is a tasty mineral infused Anjou pear with hints of grapefruit, lemon, and white pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors linger for quite a while. This crowd pleasing Chardonnay is very food friendly and would pair well with many foods. I would choose chicken piccata. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: From 40-year-old vines on the lower slopes of Chassagne Montrachet and Meursault, Vincent Girardin's Cuvee St. Vincent utilizes some excellent terroir for a Bourgogne bottling. The clay limestone soils yield about 50 hl/ha of grapes which were harvested by hand and sorted both in the vineyard and again at the winery before being pressed and slowly extracted. The wine spent 10 months in barrel before being bottled. The wine is aromatically rich with floral and citrus tones with a fresh and minerally Chardonnay profile.
