Wine Review: This almost clear colored dry-styled Riesling from Villa Wolf is very good and will be liked by hardcore dry Riesling fans. It opens with a mild petrol bouquet with a hint of honey and pear. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a mineral infused saline and green apple blend with hints of ginger, peach pit and lime. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity linger for a little while. This Riesling would pair well with calamari. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2012 vintage was spectacular in the Pfalz region; one of the finest in years, with excellent ripeness and perfect weather during the harvest. The Riesling from Wachenheimer Belz beautifully captures the stony chalk character of the vineyard in the aroma, and has a fine, firm structure on the palate. Twelve months of lees contact gives the wine nice weight on the midpalate that carries its layers of fruit through to the dry finish.
