Wine Review: This dark red colored Sangiovese from Sonoma Valley opens with a mild blueberry and cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is cherry-cola with notes of red beet and smoky oak. I also detected hints of beef stick and red raspberry. It definitely is more California in style vs. Tuscany. The finish dry and its mild tannins and flavors fade away nicely. This Sangiovese while not overly complex, is easy to drink and food friendly. It went very well with fresh pasta shells smothered in meat sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: If you like balanced rounded oak in your wines, then this wine is for you. Bright black currant, strawberry and tobacco are flanked by hints of toasted oak, coffee bean, coco nib and red clay. The palate is elegant, rounded and fruity with a lingering finish. The round structure, perfectly balanced tannins and earthy notes make this an extremely versatile wine. It would pair perfectly with a simple wood fire veggie pizza.
