Wine Review: This Spanish red from Vall Llach will be perfect for a cold winter night. It is opaque and very dark purple colored. It opens with a ripe black cherry and oak bouquet with a hint of plum. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, very concentrated, and rich. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of integrated oak, anise, and spice. The finish is dry and its mild oak tannins are slightly prolonged. Drink this wine to warm you up and serve it with sharp cheddar cheese. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Sourced primarily from 10 to 15 year-old estate vines, the Embruix (pronounced "Embroosh") de Vall Llach is Catalan for "bewitching." True to its name, the wine has an enchanting ruby-red color and captivating aromas of fresh blueberries, dark minerals, ripe plums and mulling spices. On the palate the wine is surprisingly complex and full-bodied, with soft tannins and a hint of sweet fennel expressed in the finish. Meant to consume now or age for 20-25 years, this wine should be served between 58-60ºF.
