Wine Review: This deep purple colored Tempranillo from Valenciso is impressive. It opens with a fig and moist pipe tobacco bouquet with hints of black plum and blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black plum and mild oak blend with notes of minerality. I also detected hints of herbal tea, mocha and a touch of blackberry. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins linger and stick around for a while. This wine is properly aged and ready to go. I would pair this very nice Tempranillo with Roy’s rib roast. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Produced from a high-elevation parcel of 75-year-old Tempranillo, aged over five years in cement tanks prior to aging in lightly-toasted second-year Caucasus oak barrels for 40 months. A marvel of elegance and minerality with mouth-filling texture and aroma, retaining remarkable freshness and the capacity to age and improve in bottle for many years.
