Wine Review: This pitch-black colored Syrah based wine from VGS hails from the Kick Ranch. It opens with a toasted coconut and mild chocolate bouquet. Think Mounds candy bar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with nicely integrated mild acidity. The mouthfeel it is also round and lush. The flavor profile is similar to the nose. It features toasted coconut, milk chocolate and plum sauce. I also detected notes of blueberry. I also detected hints of clove and sage in the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its medium tannins linger and last for quite a while. I would pair this impressive wine with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: At first glance, the vibrant and brilliant blueish, ruby red color shines in your glass. The nose is both full and rich yet at the same time delicate and generous. Seductive aromas of ripe strawberries, pomegranate, black tea leaves, and violets followed by toasty oak and caramel overtones dominate the nose. In the mouth, the wine is ever-present and rich, full bodied and agile. An explosion of late-summer berries fill the palate with floral overtones of lavender and roses… delicious! GSC has quickly become one of our signature wines and a favorite among our members. It is allocated to members only. Pair with steak au poivre or roasted duck with green olives.
