Wine Review: This ruby colored Zinfandel from V. Sattui opens with a pomegranate and cigar wrapper bouquet with hints of dried strawberry, light pine resin, violets, and faint peach. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and graceful. The flavor profile is pomegranate and chalky minerality blend with notes of strawberry and craisin. We also detected hints of tobacco, cedar, and lavender. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its dusty tannins build-up and stick around for quite a while. I would pair this Zin with a porterhouse steak or with barbecue pork shoulder.
