Wine Review: This medium purple colored Zinfandel from V. Sattui has a fragrant boysenberry and black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and rather smooth for a Zin. The flavor profile is a very tasty spiced black plum and boysenberry blend with notes of gentle oak and blackberry. I also detected some hints of cinnamon and mild minerality in the background. The finish is dry and well-managed. This Zin went perfectly with my St. Louis styled ribs and pulled pork with Memphis barbecue sauce from Firefly's. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Ramazzotti's deliver ultra-ripe Zinfandel grapes to us each vintage, which are perfect for our maximum extraction winemaking techniques. The 2018 is deep purple in color. This beautiful Dry Creek Zin brims with aromas of black raspberry, sweet spice and chocolate before delivering a palate-pleasing mélange of spicy dark cherry and blackberry flavors that develop intense complexity, there is also deftly applied oak that lends a trim of sweet spice and supple finish. Delicious now, but balanced to age. Pair with smoked meats at your summer BBQ's.
