Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from V. Sattui opens with a boysenberry and black plum bouquet with hints of chai tea. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, mouthwatering and savory. The flavor profile is a stony minerality and stewed black plum blend with notes of oolong tea, black licorice, and black pepper. I also detected hints of oak and prune. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins linger and last for quite some time. This Petite Sirah benefits from some air, I would decant it and pair it with a fireplace and Beemster XO gouda cheese. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2018 vintage captures all that is best about Petite Sirah. It is opaque in color and displays rich jammy fruit aromas. Flavors of blackberry, black pepper, and soft notes of vanilla. Bold tannins that are smoothed out with balanced acidity. This is a Petite Sirah for those who love the boldness of fruit.
