Wine Review: This ink red colored Zinfandel opens with a ripe blackberry, plum and cedar bouquet. On the palate, it is full bodied, juicy, bold and slightly dry. The flavor profile is a robust ripe blackberry, raspberry jam and light tart cherry blend with hints of oak. The finish is dusty dry and prolonged. The integrated tannins and acidity are slightly elevated, but I believe bottle aging or decanting will smooth them out. I would pair this Zin with a grilled ribeye with a melted onion blue cheese sauce. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: This Ancient Vine Zinfandel is rich and spicy, with dusty oak tannins and lingering fruit. This Zinfandel is sourced from a tiny vineyard in the middle of our town, St. Helena. Most of the vines are Zinfandel, but there are varying amounts of Petite Sirah and Carignane throughout the vineyard as well, for added color and flavor complexity.
