Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Zinfandel from V. Sattui opens with a perfumed blackberry and black licorice bouquet with hints of lavender. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and very juicy. The flavor profile is an extracted spiced plum with notes of cranberry. We also detected hints of black licorice, black cherry, rum and coke. The finish is dry and its flavors and managed tannins show nice length. The Panel found this Zin to be a bit edgy with a touch of heat. Some suggested drinking it on its own and others suggested pairing it with blackened tuna or seared duck breast. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This Old Vine Zinfandel's sweet, berryish fruit aromas show both lots of immediate appeal and plenty of depth. Upon entry, the flavors are much like the nose, with forward blackberry fruit that gives substance to the frontal impressions, along with creamy oak. Well-structured. Pair with a hearty vegetable dish like stuffed eggplant.
