Wine Review: This dark purple colored Merlot from V. Sattui impressed the Tasting Panel. It opens with a black raspberry bouquet with a hint of mulberry and eucalyptus. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced and savory with decent structure. The flavor profile is a tasty plum with notes of strawberry and faint oak. We also detected a hint of black tea, dark chocolate and cherry. The finish is dry and its mild tannins drift away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this Merlot with blackened grouper. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Napa Valley Merlot shows a very dark ruby color, with hints of black pepper, cocoa and sage; the aromas are reminiscent of red cherry, black olive and black plum with pretty, floral rose petal, lilac and lavender notes. On the palate the wine is richly flavored with dark, blueberry muffin and sweet, red berry fruit balanced by refreshing acidity. The finish is soft but becomes more powerful as the flavors dissipate leaving a solid core of ripe tannins, and a very pleasant, lingering impression of dark fruit.
