Wine Review: This special reserve dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from V. Sattui opens with a cola and strawberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty mild black raspberry with hints of blackberry, cola and gentle oak in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors and fine gentle tannins drift away nicely. This really good Pinot would pair perfectly with honey glazed pork chops with figs, orange and cardamom. Yum and Enjoy! Ken
Winemaker Notes: All of this wine was grown on our Henry Ranch (4 special blocks) on the Napa side of the Carneros appellation. A unique selection of special clones render our Pinot with bright fruit, a little earthiness and spice. The wine was aged in 100% new oak. Intense, complex aromas of raspberry, sweet lavender and ripe black cherry greet the nose. These are repeated on the palate and extended in a long and elegant finish. Age-worthy for another 5 to 7 years.
