Wine Review: This dark clay red colored Zinfandel opens with mild strawberry bouquet with a hint of cedar and red currant. On the palate, this wine is an absolute fruit bomb. It is medium to full bodied, very juicy and explodes in your mouth. Its full throttle flavors consist of black raspberry, oak, and boysenberry and a touch spicy with some black pepper. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins build up and stick around for quite a while. This wine is more of a winter wine than a food wine. Pair it with sharp cheddar cheese and enjoy it at the ski lodge. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Rutherford Bench, classic "Cabernet Country" also turns out to be a pretty splendid place to grow and make Zinfandel. Our 2008 wine shines with all of the sumptuous, berry-forwarded aromas and spicy, black pepper, white-pepper flavors one would hope for in a Zinfandel.
