Wine Review: This inky midnight purple colored Malbec based blend from Trefethen really impressed the Tasting Panel. It opens with a fragrant Canada wintermint bouquet with hints of mulberry and toasted coconut. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty menthol and Maraschino cherry blend with notes of stewed plum and clove. We also detected some hints of vanilla and black pepper mixed in. The finish is dry, smooth, and its flavors and moderate tannins show very good length. The Panel suggested pairing this impressive wine with ostrich or a ribeye. Enjoy – KWGTP.
Winemaker Notes: Rich, yet fresh and bright, this wine is incredibly enchanting. The nose features intense aromas of dark brambly fruit and layers of cinnamon, violet and vanilla. Balanced and supple on the palate, the finish is mouthwateringly smooth. We suggest pairing this with leaner cuts of beef like flank or skirt steak.
