Wine Review: This translucent red colored Nerello Mascalese from Sicily opens with a Maraschino cherry and strawberry licorice bouquet with a hint of new leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with pleasant integrated acidity. The mouthfeel is round and gentle. The flavor profile is a tasty red plum and unripe strawberry with notes of green tea. There are also hints of red cherry and cedar plank in the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its well-managed fine tannins that fade away nicely. This very food friendly Nerello would pair nicely with an eggplant parmigiana. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Ruby red with faint purple, typical of this variety which is not very rich in color. Clear hints of red berries, Morello cherry and black cherry on the nose. The taste is characterized by its typical balanced tannins and a surprising fullness, flavor and persistence.
