Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Merlot from Titus opens with a fresh brewed black coffee and black plum bouquet with hints of blueberry and topsoil. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, plush, and gentle. The flavor profile is a crushed stone and plum blend with notes of blueberry and cocoa. We also picked up some hints of coffee and cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate tannins stick around for a while. The Tasting Panel would suggest pairing this Merlot with teriyaki steak tips or chocolate mousse. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 Titus Merlot is a wonderful expression of this classic variety. Notes of red fruit, pomegranate, cherry with graphite and oolong tea jump out of the glass on the first swirls. The wine is mouth filling and smooth, with medium bodied texture, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity that keep the wine fresh throughout. Dark cherry, nutmeg, clove, and cracked pepper lead the way with well-integrated oak and soft herbs rounding out the palate into a finish that is supple and lingering. Enjoy through 2034.
