Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Zinfandel from the Bigelow Vineyard is very good. It opens with a fragrant and inviting acai berry bouquet with hint of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty mild ripe blackberry with notes of minerality and stewed plum. I also detected some old oak and black pepper in the background. The finish is dry and its refined mild tannins linger stick around for quite a while. I would pair this Zin with a filet mignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The wine is dark black and blue color to the edge, with boysenberry, violets, supple tannins, and perfect acidity. The wine shows staggering ancient vine concentration with a briary density, and silken chewiness with a velour-like texture. Decant and enjoy our 2015 Bigelow Zinfandel with pan-seared duck or a grilled t-bone accompanied with a fig reduction sauce.
