Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from the Dr. Crane Vineyard opens with an intense black currant and dark cherry bouquet with hints of vanilla, oak and blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and intense. The flavor profile is black cherry and stony minerality blend with notes of oak and black currant. We also detected hints of boysenberry mixed in. The finish is dry and its acidity and mild tannins drift away nicely. This 2013 vintage wine is drinking well right now and it would pair well with a filet mignon. Cheers – Ken and Dave
Winemaker Notes: Color: Opaque eggplant with a ruby rim
On the Nose: Maple syrup and yogurt with baking spices evolving on tiny Maine-blueberries with a hint of juniper berry.
On the Palate: Starting out with ripe black cherry and black plum evolving on dark chocolate ganache and cocoa powder boldly finishing on roast red pepper, white pepper and starfruit.
Of all the sites, Dr. Crane is the warmest, and has the most extracted style. Because of this the wine has a very rich and velvety palate with candied fruit on the finish.
