Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Sangiovese based wine from California is intriguing. It opens with a medicinal cherry bouquet with hints of leather and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is initially a red raspberry and mineral blend with notes of old oak and vanilla. However, as it opens up I also detected hints of blueberry, black cherry and cinnamon. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are rather sticky. This is a young wine that will benefit from a bit of decanting or cellaring. After that, I would serve it with a wild boar ragu served over farfalle pasta. Enjoy - Ken
