Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Plavac Mali from Croatia opens with a stewed plum and boysenberry bouquet with a hint of hoisin, raisin, and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and luscious. The flavor profile is a blackberry tea and stony minerality with notes of juicy black plum. There are hints of raisin, oak, dried herbs, and allspice in the mix. The finish is rather dry and its dusty moderate fine tannins build-up and stick around for a while. This wine would pair well with skirt steak kabobs, steak fajitas, or a charcuterie platter.
