Wine Review: This bright light red colored Nerello Mascalese based wine from Etna opens with a new leather, dried cherry and orange zest bouquet. On the palate this wine is light bodied, balanced and pleasant. The flavor profile is a gentle dried cherry and cedar blend with notes of crushed stone. I also detected hints of red plum and a dash of allspice. The finish is dry and dusty tannins build-up a bit and are noticeable. The tannins would make this a perfect pairing with a fatty grilled wild King Salmon steak. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color: Light ruby
Scent: Wild berries, coriander, cloves, pimento, & pink pepper
Taste: Austere and soft tannins. Round and spicy, Erse tells an old story about Etna winemaking, where for hundred years the red grapes have been mixed with the white ones, a marriage between indigenous varieties. A picture of our melting pot vineyard where tastes and roots are melted together, giving a feminine complexity.
