Wine Review: This slightly opaque and midnight blue colored Italian red opens with a sambuca and black cherry bouquet with a hint of new leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a cedar infused mild tart black cherry with notes of plum and hints of black olives. The finish is dry and it moderate tannins are sticky and linger nicely. This classic Italian wine would pair well with veal cacciatore. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Le Volte dell'Ornellaia 2011 faithfully reflects the distinctive characteristics of its vintage. The wine is rich and full-bodied, with all of its components in perfect balance. Intense in both colour and bouquet, it releases profound notes of dark berryfruit, sweet violets, and spice. The palate offers a broad vein of finely-woven, glossy tannins, creating a velvety mouthfeel. Impressions of fruit and spice lace the progression, which proceeds leisurely to an energy-laden finish enlivened by a tangy acidity.
