Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Syrah from Idaho opens with a blackberry and cured meat bouquet with hints of black cherry compote, black coffee, and anise. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and smooth with really good palate coverage. The flavor profile is a tasty mild blackberry and gentle loam blend with notes of oak and blueberry. We also detected some hints of vanilla, cracked pepper and black tea. The finish is dry and its mild fine tannins and flavors drift away nicely. We would pair this very food friendly Syrah with a German veal schnitzel with mushroom gravy or with a bison burger.
