Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Vintage Port opens with a faint dried cigar leaf and gentle cherry bouquet with hints of plum, date, and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is balanced and full bodied with medium plus acidity. The flavor profile is red currant, graphite, and raisin blend with hints of clove, tar, and black tea. The consensus was this Port needs time to soften and express itself. It did that and then some on day 2 and day 3. The Panel would be quite patient with this Port. When ready, we would pair it with Rogue Creamery, Caveman blue cheese. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: A purple-black core with a narrow purple rim. Black fruit aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant infused with discreet notes of cherry and mocha. The fruit is very fine and focused, but the year seems to have given it an additional layer of density and weight. Signature fragrance of violets, with rose petal and wild, minty herbal aromas. The palate has beautifully ripe tannins, providing both structure and volume, and ends with fresh, complex fruit flowing endlessly through the finish. In the 2018, the Taylor Fladgate traits of fine fruit and inner power combine seamlessly with the ripeness and depth typical of the vintage. This wine will develop for decades in the bottle.
