Wine Review: This ruby colored Syrah based blend from Tablas Creek opens with a black cherry, barnyard, and cedar bouquet with hints of wet stone and black raspberry. On the palate, it is medium plus bodied with nicely integrated acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, smooth, and fresh. The flavor profile is a crushed stone and black plum blend with notes of cedar and tart cherry. I also detected some hints of dried herbs as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild tannins drift away nicely. This wine was a nice complement to my melt in your mouth short ribs at Forge & Vine. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A nose of licorice, both red and black, new leather, black cherry, pomegranate reduction, and black pepper. The mouth is bright with cranberry fruit and a chaparral-style wild herbiness, and deeper flavors of baking spices, sweet tobacco, and plum skin. The finish is deep and long, with chalky tannins that suggest there's more to be revealed with time in bottle. Drink now and over the next decade. Serve with boeuf Provençale or braised short ribs with black olives.
