Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Mourvedre based wine from Tablas Creek opens with a black raspberry and red plum bouquet with hints of eucalyptus and red cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, savory and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty red plum and acai berry blend with notes of oregano and sage. I also detected some hints of strawberry and craisin towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and dusty tannins show nice length. This red blend would pair well with fall off the bone beef short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A deep brooding Mourvèdre nose of loamy red currant and roasted meats, new leather and black plum. The mouth shows spicy licorice and nutmeg lift over baked plums and Mourvèdre's signature plum skin tannin maintaining balance with the wine's mouth-coating texture. The long, richly tannic finish, with lingering flavors of wood smoke, roasted meat, and crushed rock, promises more rewards to come with cellar aging. We recommend that you drink either between now and 2023.
