Wine Review: This yellow colored Roussanne from Paso Robles is very very good. It opens with peach and apple like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is tasty mild pear and green apple blend with nicely integrated gentle oak. I also detected a hint of ginger and gentle minerality. The finish is dry and its flavors are nicely prolonged. This is a very food friendly wine. I would pair it with chicken piccata. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2013 Roussanne was the second vintage of our 100% Roussanne that we aged in foudre through the subsequent harvest, and we agreed that like the 2012, this wine showed the benefits of that longer elevage. Aromas of beeswax, lacquered wood, white flowers and yellow pear, with rich, broad flavors of honey and pear, some nicely integrated sweet oak, and a long, rich, slightly spicy finish. Appealing in its youth (more so than many vintages of our Roussanne) but should also develop over the next decade. Pairings: Coquilles St. Jacques, rich shellfish (lobster and crab) or Sea Bass.
