Wine Review: This small production wine was a pleasant discovery for me at a recent tasting of single vineyard Russian River Pinot Noirs. It was a brilliant dark ruby color and opens with a smoky fireplace like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a smoky black raspberry with notes of old oak. The finish is dry and its well managed moderate tannins linger nicely. This Old World styled Pinot would pair very nicely with a NY strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: In 2007 the fruit ripened to perfection, and we are seeing the results of a young vineyard establishing itself. The Suacci vineyard is starting to shed its baby fat and the resulting wine from the Suacci Vineyard is bolder and more complex with a nice richness while maintaining its petite, crisp stature. On the nose the wine displays the hallmark Suacci flavors: herbs, pomegranate, raspberry and earth, but the mouthfeel is lush and powerful. It should be a great hearty dish match, or a great wine to be enjoyed on its own.
