Wine Review: This dark ruby and slightly opaque Syrah from Stolpman opens with a musty leather and dark chocolate bouquet with hints of blackberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe plum and blackberry blend with hints of minerality, dark chocolate, and rhubarb. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins linger for quite sometime. The panel suggested pairing this Syrah with slow cooked beef brisket or meatloaf. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Taken from our oldest vineyards, now in their 21st vintage. It comes from some of the oldest Syrah plantings in California. Typically lower in acidity than our other selections of Syrah, the 2011 vintage produced an Originals that has more finesse and balance than the 2010. Aromas and flavors of freshly crushed blackberries, toasted Indian spices, cracked pepper and smoked game are held in a transparent, lifted and refreshing texture that finishes bright and persistent.
