Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa opens with a cedar and black cherry-cola bouquet with hints of black raspberry, saddle leather, mushrooms and cocoa. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and round. The flavor profile is a smoked meat and black cherry blend with notes of cedar and gentle minerality. We also detected hints of cranberry, red currant, cola and black olive mixed in. The finish is dry and its tannins stick around for quite a while. The Panel thought this Cab would pair well with a Kona encrusted strip steak or short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: 2017 was warm and dry, thus producing very small berries with great concentration of flavor. The 2017 Cabernet opens with blackberry fruit aromas with tea-leaf and cedar notes. The palate is rich and polished with dark fruit and mocha flavors and a finely balanced acidity. Long finish with the fine velvet like tannins typical of a Jonkershoek Valley wine.
